About Pethost
Pethost is a small cloud for personal projects, easy to use for you and your agent. One flat price rents a machine of your own. Say “deploy this”, and it is live.
What Pethost is
Pethost is managed hosting for Docker Compose projects: web apps, APIs, bots, workers and their databases. A subscription rents one virtual machine that only your account uses. Pethost's software on it deploys your projects, gives them HTTPS addresses, keeps their request logs and backs them up every night.
You run it from a web panel, or through the AI agent you already use: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI and any other that supports skills and MCP.
Why we built it
- Agents write the code now, and hosting was made for people. Most hosting hands an agent the API it made for dashboards. Pethost was designed for agents from the first day.
- Side projects come in dozens. A price per app, per database and per visitor punishes exactly the people who build many small things. Here the machine is the price.
- A bare server forgets what runs on it. On Pethost each project has a name, an address and its numbers, in one panel.
Why Pethost is good
Built for AI agents
An MCP server with 13 tools, and a skill that teaches the agent to deploy and look after projects. Each tool does one clear thing, and every error says what to do next. Answers are short: logs come filtered and paged, and one call waits for a deploy. That is less time and fewer tokens.
One flat price, no surprise bill
Starter is €9.99 a month for 2 vCPU, 3 GB of memory and 30 GB of SSD. Grow is €17.99 for 4 vCPU, 6 GB and 60 GB. Prices are without VAT. As many projects, containers and databases as fit: nothing is metered, and nothing is billed on top. See the plans.
A machine of your own
A real virtual machine, with nobody else's projects on it. No cold starts, nothing sleeps. Security updates install themselves.
Everything a project needs, included
- HTTPS addresses: anything.yourname.pethost.app at once, or your own domain with one DNS record. Certificates renew themselves. A password page in front of the whole site: one sentence to your agent.
- Deploys from GitHub: every push deploys itself, and an earlier commit is one step back.
- Request logs: every request with its status and time, the busiest paths and the error rate, kept for 30 days.
- Nightly backups: encrypted, stored off the machine, kept for 14 days.
- SSH and SFTP into any container, and a terminal in the panel.
Docker Compose, as written
A project is a Docker Compose file, and Pethost runs it as written. Anything Docker runs, in any language. The same file runs anywhere else Docker does.
Your sites do not pass through us
Requests to your sites go straight to your machine, never through our panel. Your data lives on that machine, in the EU, and backups are encrypted before they leave it.
The agent has limits
It can deploy, read logs and requests, change settings, restart, roll back and restore. It cannot pay for anything or change your account. It signs in through your browser, with no token to copy, and you revoke it in Settings at any time.
How it works
- Subscribe, and a machine is set up for you.
- Tell your agent: “Install the Pethost plugin from github.com/pethost-dev/plugin for yourself”, and approve it in your browser.
- Say “deploy this and send me the link”. The agent packs the project, writes a Dockerfile if there is none, deploys it and answers with its address.
No agent? The web panel does the same, and shows the same projects, logs and requests.
Who it is for
- Solo developers and early startups who host several projects, bots or small apps and want one fixed monthly bill.
- People who build with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want the agent to deploy and run what it wrote.
It is not for large teams whose applications need several regions or autoscaling: the machine is the limit. And there is no free tier: €9.99 rents a real machine.
How Pethost compares
What the others charge is what their own pricing pages said in October 2026.
Heroku alternative
On Heroku every dyno and add-on has its own price: an app, a worker and a database are three lines on the bill, and the cheapest dynos sleep after 30 minutes. Since February 2026 Heroku is in sustaining engineering: fixes, no new features. Pethost is one flat price for everything on the machine, and nothing sleeps.
Render alternative
On Render every service has its own price: each app, worker, cron job and database is one more line on the bill, on top of the workspace plan. Free services sleep after 15 minutes. On Pethost one flat price covers the whole machine: as many projects and databases as fit, and nothing sleeps.
Railway and Fly.io alternative
Both price by usage: CPU, memory and traffic are metered by the second, so the bill moves with every busy month. On Pethost the machine is the limit: nothing is metered, nothing is billed on top.
Vercel and Netlify alternative
Both are made for front ends and serverless functions: a bot, a long-running worker or a database is another service with its own price. Usage is metered: Vercel bills traffic and function calls on top of $20 per seat, and on Netlify every deploy and every gigabyte spends credits. Pethost runs the front end, the back end and the database on one machine, at one flat price.
Coolify and Dokploy alternative
With Coolify or Dokploy you rent the server and look after it yourself: install the panel, update it, secure the machine, set up storage for backups. Pethost is the machine with all of that done, and someone who keeps it working. Agents are first-class users, not an add-on.
CapRover, Dokku and Easypanel alternative
Self-hosted, like Coolify: the server is yours to rent, update, secure and back up. Dokku is run from the command line. Easypanel's free plan stops at 3 projects, and the paid one is a licence per server on top of the server's rent. Pethost is the machine and the panel together, looked after for you.
DigitalOcean App Platform alternative
App Platform is priced per component: each service and each worker is its own container, from $5 a month for 512 MB, a database is $7 more, and traffic over the allowance is billed per GB. Pethost is one flat price for as many apps and databases as fit on the machine.
Koyeb alternative
Koyeb's Pro plan is $29 a month before any compute, and every instance is then metered by the second. Mistral AI bought Koyeb in February 2026 to build its own AI cloud. Pethost is €9.99 a month for the whole machine, with nothing metered.
Replit alternative
On Replit you build and publish inside Replit, with its own agent, and every published app is billed on its own: an always-on one starts at $15 a month, the others are metered by request. Pethost works with the agent you already use, and one flat price covers all your apps.
PythonAnywhere alternative
PythonAnywhere is Python only, with no Docker: $10 a month is one web app and one always-on task, and a second site means a bigger plan. Pethost runs anything Docker runs, in any language, as many projects as fit, at about the same price.
Sliplane alternative
Sliplane is the closest to Pethost: a flat price per server, as many containers as fit. But the same money buys a smaller server there: €9 is 1 vCPU and 1 GB of memory, against 2 vCPU and 3 GB for €9.99 here. A Compose file is converted into its own services, and only part of it carries over; Pethost runs a Compose project as written.
A VPS you set up yourself
The server is the cheap part. You still set up the proxy, DNS, certificates, backups and updates yourself, and fix them when they break. Pethost is the server with all of that done: one panel with every request, log and resource, and an MCP server built for agents.
