# Self-hosted file storage, documents and PDF tools

Files are what people least like to hand over: contracts, scans, receipts, years of work. A file app on your own server keeps them on a machine you control, reachable from every device and in the nightly backup.

Nextcloud syncs files, calendars and contacts. Paperless-ngx turns paper documents into a searchable online archive. OpenList shows many storages, from cloud drives to S3 and WebDAV, as one file list to browse and share. BentoPDF merges, splits, compresses and signs PDFs in the browser without uploading them, PDFMathTranslate translates scientific papers and keeps their formulas and layout, and Gopeed downloads over HTTP and BitTorrent.
