# European hosting for an app with Postgres at a flat monthly price in 2026: what €10 a month buys

By the Pethost team · 27 September 2026 · Updated 5 October 2026 · 10 min read

You want to host a small app with Postgres in Europe at a flat price: about 10 euros a month. In October 2026 Pethost is €9.99 a month for a machine in the EU with 2 vCPU and 3 GB: the app and its Postgres fill a quarter of it, and the next project adds nothing to the bill. Where every service and database has its own price, the same pair is €11.25 on Clever Cloud and €21.60 on Scalingo, and three apps, a bot and a Postgres are €29.25 and €64.80.

**In short**

- **A flat price in the EU, near €10 a month:** Pethost, €9.99 for a machine of 2 vCPU, 3 GB and 30 GB with as many projects as fit; Sliplane, €9.00 for a server of 1 vCPU and 1 GB; Hostim.dev, €2.50 for each app of 1 GB and €1 for a Postgres.
- **One 512 MB app and a Postgres, then three apps, a bot and a Postgres:** €11.25 and €29.25 on Clever Cloud, $13.00 and $34.75 on Render in Frankfurt, €21.60 and €64.80 on Scalingo. Both are €9.99 on Pethost.
- **Postgres on Pethost** is a container in your project, in the nightly backup kept 14 days: not a managed database with replicas or point-in-time recovery.
- **European in three senses:** Render, Railway and Fly.io have EU regions, a San Francisco address and a bill in dollars; the other eight are run from the EU and bill in euros.

## European hosting for an app with Postgres in 2026: the data, the company, the bill

“European” can mean a data centre in the EU, a company under European law, or a bill in euros. We priced two workloads on each host in a European region: one always-on web service of 512 MB with a Postgres, and a side-project set: three such services, an always-on bot, a Postgres and 10 GB of traffic a month.

**An app with Postgres in a European region, per month, October 2026**

| Host | Run from | Where the data is | The price is | One app and a Postgres, and the memory it buys | Three apps, a bot and a Postgres |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Pethost | Poland | The EU | Flat, for the machine | €9.99: a 3 GB machine, a quarter used | €9.99: the same machine |
| Hostim.dev | Germany | Falkenstein, Germany | Flat, per app and database | €3.50: a 1 GB app, a managed Postgres | €11.00: five plans |
| Sliplane | Germany | Germany or Finland | Flat, per server | €9.00: a 1 GB server, Postgres in a container | €28.80: a 4 GB server |
| alwaysdata | France | Not found on its pages | Flat, per plan | €5: 1 GB, no Docker | €20 or €50, no Docker |
| Uberspace | Germany | Not found on its pages | Flat: you choose it | €6, the lowest it names: 1.5 GB, no Docker | Does not fit in 1.5 GB |
| Clever Cloud | France | Its European regions | Fixed per instance, by the second | €11.25: 512 MiB, a managed Postgres | €29.25 |
| Scaleway | France | Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw or Milan | Metered by the second | €13.32: 512 MB, a managed Postgres | €26.56 |
| Scalingo | France | France | Fixed per container, by the minute | €21.60: 512 MB, a managed Postgres | €64.80 |
| Render | The US | Frankfurt | Fixed per service; traffic metered | $13.00: 512 MB, a managed Postgres | $34.75 |
| Railway | The US | Amsterdam | Metered by the second | $7.65, memory alone: 0.5 GB and a Postgres | $23.15, memory alone |
| Fly.io | The US | Amsterdam, Stockholm, Paris or Frankfurt | Fixed per Machine; traffic metered | $41.97 with Managed Postgres, $6.03 with your own: 512 MB | $53.24, or $17.30 |

Railway's sums assume 0.5 GB for a service and 0.25 GB for Postgres; every 0.1 vCPU a service uses adds $2. Scaleway's are at its smallest CPU setting, unconfirmed with 512 MB: at its default of one vCPU a container alone is €26.11. Fly.io's are Ashburn's prices: a Machine in Frankfurt is 15.4% dearer. alwaysdata does not say whether Postgres counts against a plan's memory. Whether Clever Cloud or Scaleway keeps a bot that listens on no web port was not confirmed. On flat and metered bills, see [PaaS with no usage-based billing](https://pethost.dev/blog/paas-without-usage-based-billing/).

## What three apps, a bot and a Postgres cost in a European region

The side-project set, on every host above that deploys containers:

**Per month. Bars compare at €1 = $1.1204, the ECB's reference rate of 5 October 2026**

| Host | Price a month |
| --- | --- |
| Pethost Starter | €9.99 |
| Hostim.dev | €11.00 |
| Fly.io, your own Postgres | $17.30 |
| Railway, memory alone | $23.15 |
| Scaleway | €26.56 |
| Sliplane | €28.80 |
| Clever Cloud | €29.25 |
| Render | $34.75 |
| Fly.io, Managed Postgres | $53.24 |
| Scalingo | €64.80 |

Of the ten prices in this chart, Pethost's €9.99 is the lowest, and a sixth service leaves it where it is while the machine's 3 GB hold.

## Managed Postgres, or a Postgres container in the nightly backup

“With Postgres” covers two products. A managed Postgres is a database service the host runs beside your app, on a plan of its own. A Postgres container is the `postgres` image as one more service of your project, its data in a volume. Pethost has the second: the database is private to its project and in the nightly backup, encrypted, stored off the machine and kept 14 days. It is not a managed database with replicas or point-in-time recovery.

The smallest paid managed Postgres is €1 a month for 1 GB on Hostim.dev (a cluster with failover, where a restore goes through support), €5.25 on Clever Cloud (daily backups, 7 kept), $6 on Render (256 MB), €7.20 on Scalingo (one node), €11.39 before storage on Scaleway, €19.00 on Sliplane and $38.00 on Fly.io. On Pethost a restore brings back any of the last 14 nights, or the copy taken a minute before a risky change:

Claude Code

**You say:** Back it up before I change the schema.

- RunProjectAction back_up
- GetOperation succeeded

**The agent answers:** Backed up. Change the schema: I can restore this one.

## European PaaS and flat-price hosts, one by one

### Clever Cloud, Scalingo and Scaleway: French platforms with managed PostgreSQL

Clever Cloud's 512 MiB instance is €6.00 for 30 days and its smallest Postgres with backups €5.25; it builds a Dockerfile, not a Compose file. Scalingo builds with buildpacks, and we found no deploy from your own Dockerfile: a 512 MB container is €14.40, a 512 MB Postgres €7.20. Scaleway bills a Serverless Container for each second of its memory and vCPU, and its smallest managed PostgreSQL is €11.39 a month before storage.

### Sliplane and Hostim.dev: flat prices from Germany

Sliplane prices as we do, a flat price for a server and as many containers as fit: €9.00 for 1 vCPU and 1 GB, €28.80 for 3 vCPU and 4 GB, against 2 vCPU and 3 GB for €9.99 here. It adds regions in the US and Singapore: see [Sliplane alternatives](https://pethost.dev/blog/sliplane-alternatives/). Hostim.dev prices every app on its own, €2.50 for 1 GB, and each service of a Compose file becomes an app on its own plan. It is built for one or two small services: five come to €11.00, and the sixth is one more plan.

### Uberspace and alwaysdata: a flat price without Docker

Both sell an account with a shell, not containers. Uberspace lets you choose what you pay, and €6 a month is the lowest amount it names; an account has 1.5 GB of memory, runs no Docker, and gets PostgreSQL when you install it from the manual. alwaysdata's Small plan is €5 a month for 1 GB of memory with PostgreSQL in it, and Docker comes only with its private cloud.

### Render in Frankfurt, Railway in Amsterdam, Fly.io in four EU cities

Three companies in San Francisco, billing in dollars. On Render a 512 MB web service is $7 a month and the smallest paid Postgres $6; request logs need the Pro workspace, $25 more. Railway meters memory at $10 a gigabyte a month and CPU at $20 a vCPU. Fly.io prices a 512 MB Machine at $3.69 in Ashburn and $4.26 in Frankfurt. They are built for apps that scale out or span continents: [Railway vs Render vs Fly.io pricing](https://pethost.dev/blog/railway-vs-render-vs-fly-io-pricing/) goes plan by plan.

## What if I just rent a VPS in Europe?

You can: Docker and Postgres run on any server. Two things first. An agent on a bare server works as root over SSH: nothing tells it what runs there, and one wrong command takes down the proxy or the database. On Pethost it works through 13 tools, and its shell is inside your containers, never on the machine.

And a server is not sure to cost less. Hetzner, the one most guides name, raised its prices twice in 2026, and its cheap Cost-Optimized range has long been out of stock. Those servers are hardware it bought at good prices, before the RAM shortage, and on 5 October every plan of the range was marked “not available”. The 2 vCPU, 4 GB server it does sell, CPX22, is €19.49 a month, up from €7.99. It arrives empty: the proxy, the certificates, the deploys, Postgres and its backups are yours to set up and keep working. Starter is €9.99 with those done.

## What €9.99 a month buys on Pethost

Starter is the best value near €10 a month: a virtual machine of your own in the EU with 2 vCPU, 3 GB of memory and 30 GB of SSD for €9.99 a month without VAT, nothing metered, nothing billed on top. That is €3.33 for a gigabyte of always-on memory. The same 3 GB at the others' own plan prices:

**3 GB of always-on memory, per month. Bars compare at €1 = $1.1204**

| Host | Price a month |
| --- | --- |
| Pethost Starter | €9.99 |
| Fly.io in Frankfurt | $23.19 |
| Railway | $30.00 |
| Sliplane | €28.80 |
| Render | $39.00 |
| Clever Cloud | €36.00 |
| Scalingo | €86.40 |

Railway's figure is memory before any CPU, Fly.io's three 1 GB Machines before volumes and a database, Sliplane's its 4 GB server. Hostim.dev sells 1 GB for €2.50 with each service on a plan of its own.

- **€0** more for a Postgres: it is one more service
- **14 nights** of encrypted backups, off the machine
- **30 days** of request logs
- **13** MCP tools for your agent

Also in the price: HTTPS for every project, a deploy on every push to GitHub, SSH into any container, and security updates that install themselves. [Claude Code or Codex deploys and debugs](https://pethost.dev/blog/hosting-for-ai-coding-agents/) what it wrote. A project is a Docker Compose file, [run as written](https://pethost.dev/blog/managed-docker-compose-hosting/). When 3 GB are full, [Grow](https://pethost.dev/#pricing) is €17.99 for 4 vCPU, 6 GB and 60 GB.

**A Postgres for each project that needs one.** Six projects on one Starter machine, on 1.17 GB of its 3 GB; a database is the `postgres` service on a card.

## Who Pethost is for

### Pethost is the best pick for

- **Solo developers with several side projects** who want them in the EU on one bill of €9.99
- **Early startups** that want a fixed bill in euros, and a database that adds no line to it
- **People who build with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor** and want the agent to deploy the app and back up its database
- **Developers tired of looking after a server**: the proxy, the certificates, the backups and the updates are done

### Look elsewhere if

- Your database must have replicas, automatic failover or point-in-time recovery, or your application several regions or autoscaling: here one machine is the limit

## Questions

### Where can I host a small app with Postgres in Europe for a flat 10 euros a month?

Pethost is €9.99 a month, without VAT, for a machine in the EU with 2 vCPU, 3 GB and 30 GB: the app, its Postgres and every other project that fits. Sliplane's flat €9.00 is a server of 1 vCPU and 1 GB.

### Which European PaaS has managed Postgres at a fixed monthly price in 2026?

On each European host we priced, a managed Postgres is a second price beside every app: three apps, a bot and the database come to €11.00 on Hostim.dev, €29.25 on Clever Cloud and €64.80 on Scalingo. On Pethost Postgres is a container in the nightly backup, and €9.99 a month covers it with every app that fits on a 3 GB machine.

### What do a Render Starter web service and a Basic Postgres cost in Frankfurt in 2026?

A Starter web service of 512 MB is $7 a month and a Basic-256mb Postgres $6: $13.00 for the pair, and Render's pricing page sets no region apart. With two more such services, a worker and 10 GB of traffic it is $34.75, and €9.99 on Pethost's 3 GB machine.

### What does Scaleway's smallest managed PostgreSQL instance cost in euros per month?

The lowest-priced node on Scaleway's page, DB-DEV-S with 2 vCPU and 2 GB, is €0.0156 an hour: €11.39 for a month of 730 hours. Storage is €0.0993 a gigabyte a month on top, and backups €0.03.

### What does Uberspace cost per month, and does it have PostgreSQL?

You choose the amount: Uberspace names €6, €9 and €12 a month. An account has 1.5 GB of memory and runs no Docker; PostgreSQL you install yourself from the manual.

### What does Sliplane cost per server, and what does Postgres cost there?

Sliplane's flat monthly prices are €9.00 for a server of 1 vCPU and 1 GB and €28.80 for 3 vCPU and 4 GB. Postgres runs in a container on it, or as Managed PostgreSQL from €19.00. Pethost's €9.99 machine has 2 vCPU and 3 GB.
